  1. i saw 8 including 7 of top 9. 10 and favorite usual suspects. hidden gem dead man an 8. not a millers crossing fan, with 11 million in box office it is good to know i am not alone. i will revisit it thanks to UMR review of 85% and the love given by UMR commenters.

    1. Hey bob cox….as always good feedback. Surprised you have not seen more than 8 Gabriel Byrne movies. We differ on Miller’s Crossing….one of my all-time favorites…..the Danny Boy scene is one I watch regularly. Let me know what you think if you revisit it. Danny Peary gave Miller’s Crossing his Alternate Oscar in his awesome book…Alternate Oscars. Good stuff.

  2. I have seen Gabe in many fine performances: Enemy of the State; Into the West; Man in the Iron Mask; The Name of the Father; The Usual Suspects of course; and Arnie’s End of Days in which if I remember correctly Gabe’s character was meant to be The Devil.

However the two projects for which I remember him most are:

1/The television series In Treatment which ran for 106 episodes each lasting just between 22 – 30 mins over 3 seasons from Jan 2008 – Dec 2010. Gabe played a psychiatrist who treated throughout the series a number of different kinds of patients acted by the likes of the well-knowns John Mahoney of TV’s Frasier and Debra Winger.

2/1999’s supernatural horror film Stigmata. Here if my memory is again working properly Gabe in contrast to his Devil in End of Days played a priest who was Satan’s enemy. It wasn’t a great movie [Cogerson rating 52%] but it will always be a ‘memento’ for me as I saw it on my visit to the US in 1999. Normally it’s the type of film that I leave to Steve and the Work Horse; but my daughter is also keen on supernatural horror movies and dragged me to see it – along with the week before Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller The Astronaut’s Wife another piece of c**p – 47% rated by Bruce.

Gabe has 8 acting awards and 17 noms credited to him by IMDB including would you believe it a Golden Globe win for In Treatment and a Blockbuster Entertainment Horror nomination for Stigmata. His current net worth is said to be $16 million

Gabriel has two projects in the pipeline (1) the lead in the drama Death of a Ladies’ Man at post-production stage (2) another drama at pre-production stage – Hamlet Revenant with Sir Ian McKellen.

    “Voted Up!”

    1. Gabriel was executive producer of In the Name of the Father but I don’t think played a role in it and in my prevous post I thereforewrongly credited him with an acting part in that movie. Apologies.

  3. I was wondering if you had down Gabriel Byrne before, because he’s in your new book.

Gabe was born in 1950 not 1968.

Mr. Byrne is # 103 on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the actors on the 2020 list he has appeared with.

    1. Hey Dan. Thanks for the catch on Gabriel’s birthyear. Good catch on Byrne being in the book but not having a page. I originally had 350 actors in the book. While editing the book….I decided to add another 30 subjects (381 counting the Boseman tribute at the back of the book). Many of those did not have an UMR page. Those included:

      Gabriel Byrne…now has a page
      Rose Byrne
      Ted Danson
Kirsten Dunst…highest rated that did not have a page
      Jesse Eisenberg…now has a page
      Dakota Fanning
      Maggie Gyllenhaal
      Tom Hiddleston
      Kevin James
      Catherine Keener
      Greg Kinnear…..now has a page
      Jennifer Jason Leigh
      Jet Li
      Anthony Mackie
      Rachel McAdams….now has a page
Chloe Grace Moretz….now has a page
      Sam Neill
      Ellen Page
      Sarah Jessica Parker
      Saoirse Ronan…….now has a page
      Tim Roth….now has a page
      Amanda Seyfried
      Dan Stevens
      Naomi Watts

        1. Good to hear from you In The Shadows. You are correct…John Turturro is indeed in the book but not yet on the website. Thank you for buying the book. At one point it made it to #9 on one of Amazon lists. Thanks again for the headsup and the support.

    2. As for your Gabriel Byrne triva lists….as always…thank you. Wow…he is alot higher than I would have guessed. Looking at the first list, many Oracle people have been in three movies with him…I think the most interesting is his ex-wife Ellen Barkin. I remember when they were together…seems the press liked them back then. 33 Oscar winning co-stars is a solid total. Amazed he has not made a movie with Michael Caine, good stuff as always.

  4. Gabriel Byrne, good actor, worthy of UMR respect.

I’ve seen 14 of the 41 films on the chart. Favorites are – Excalibur, Enemy of the State, End of Days, The Usual Suspects, The Man in the Iron Mask, Cool World, Point of No Return and The Keep.

I watched Miller’s Crossing once a long way back on video tape, it’s a good film but I haven’t watched it since.

    Good work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our Gabriel Byrne page. Tally count: 17 for me and 14 for you. I am right there with you on Excalibur….love that movie…I just wish the middle part was as great as the first part and the ending. The scene with Arthur and his son is something me and my sons act out pretty regular. I love Miller’s Crossing, I just rewatched again a few weeks ago. Byrne is awesome in the movie. You should check it out again. Good stuff as always.
