#233 Littleman should be “Little Man”
Hey Sidney….that has been fixed…thanks for the headsup.
My second attempt at posting a comment here failed as well.
I’ve scanned the comment for any rude words, there aren’t any.
If this shorter comment gets thru I’ll copy it here.
Here we go… 1,2,3…. I’ve watched 101 films from the 366 films listed on the chart. Less than a third. Looking at my files there are 131 films from 2006 in my movie collection.
Favorites include –
Apocalypto
Blood Diamond
Cars
Casino Royale
Children of Men
Crank
Departed ,The
Fast and the Furious 3 Tokyo Drift
Final Destination 3
Flags of Our Fathers
Happy Feet
Ice Age 2 – The Meltdown
Letters from Iwo Jima
Mission Impossible III
Monster House
Night at the Museum
Pirates of the Caribbean II Dead Man’s Chest
Prestige ,The
Scanner Darkly ,A
Snakes on a Plane
Superman Returns
Talladega Nights
Thank You For Smoking
300
Ultraviolet
Underworld – Evolution
X-Men 3
zz-China – Fearless
zz-South Korea – The Host
zz-Spain – Pans Labyrinth
Top rated films I haven’t seen include – Lives of Others, Inconvenient Truth and Volver.
My most watched 2006 films? Probably – Casino Royale, X-Men 3, 300 and Pirates of the Caribbean 2.
My favorite film of the year – Casino Royale – did very well on the charts, box office adjusted worldwide – $800m. Very good. It’s still my favorite of the 4 Daniel Craig Bonds so far.
Excellent work as usual Bruce. A big Vote Up!
Hey Steve….thanks for the comment on our 2006 page…this might have been the last of these yearly pages. Good to see you reach triple digits in the tally count. I have seen all of your favorites except for Fearless. My favorite would include Casino Royale, 300 and Children Of Men. I am right there with your on Royale being my favorite Craig movie. As for your missing critical darlings…are all good movies….but not ones I would say need to be watched. Good stuff as always.
I have seen 8 of the Top 30 highest domestic Grossing movies in the above charts and overall 12 movies caught my complete fancy in the year. Their Cogerson average review rating was a respectable 68.5%
Night at the Museum***
Ice Age: Meltdown***
Over the Hedge***
Inside Man
Déjà vu
The Guardian
Snakes on a Plane
Marie Antoinette**
The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Lady Chatterle
The Pursuit of Happyness
Superman Returns – purely for Brando’s cameo appearance and voice-over narration.
***Nostalgic memories of watching these with the grandchildren on DVD as they were growing up. Added bonuses: Dick Van Dyke and Joe Yule Jr in Night at Museum and although I don’t usually like voice performances, I did enjoy that of Mr Gimme More as RJ in Over the Hedge.
**Demonstrated that sadly the lovely and enchanting Kirsten couldn’t do stand-alone. Despite my liking it and a Cogerson better than good 64% review rating it flopped commercially and Kirsten’s only two big box office movies since then were in (1) 2007 when she reprised Spidey’s girlfriend Mary Jane Watson and (2) 2015 when she gave a supporting performance in Hidden Figures.
Her most recent film 2017’s “Woodshock” grossed just 42,000 dollars in the US and a further 1,000 dollars abroad. Marie Antoinette was directed by Sofia Coppola, daughter of the Great Francis, and Sofia and her dad jointly produced it. It’s actual production budget was $40 million [to which have to be added distribution/promotion costs]and it probably got $30 million or less back in rentals against its worldwide gross of $60 million. “It faded fast [particularly] in the US” writes Wikipedia. To add insult to injury Kirsten has received no Cogerson love to date.
“Like one that on a lonesome road
Doth walk in fear and dread…..
Because he knows a frightful fiend
Doth close behind him tread!”
I’m just behind you and catching up fast Work Horse – only 2007 left for me to ‘review’ now!
I saw 53 including 17 of top 20. 10s and faves: children of men, davinci cod, mission impossible 3 .9 and fave, failure to launch. 9 not favorites: xmen last stand, departed, pursuit o0f happiness, inside man, stranger than fiction, 16 blocks, letters from iwo jima, pirates of carribean:dead mans chest. hidden gems last king of Scotland, holiday.
Hey bob cox….good to hear from you. Good tally count. Let’s see where I compare. I see all of the Top 25. 47 of the Top 50. 78 of the Top 100. And 112 in total. I like your 10s…..especially Children of Men. I saw 16 Blocks and POC Dead Man’s Chest in theaters….both fun movies but not favorites. Forest Whitaker won the Oscar for Last King Of Scotland…and then he almost faded away…at least from high budget movies. Good feedback as always.
Too many lists. I’m only going to do cinema and films seen on DVD for the moment. This comment originally wiped out when posted. I saw 95 2006 films in the cinema. My best film of 2006 was V for Vendetta.

Hey Dan….well…I flooded the market with these 7 yearly pages on one day. The excitement of being done got to me for sure. I thought about slowly releasing them one at a time….but part of me was like…just NetFlix it….release all that the same time…lol.
I love V for Vendetta…..I need to rewatch that one. I have probably not seen it in 10 years…heck the Blu-Ray I bought is still unopened. As always….you have seen almost as many movies in theaters that I have seen in total. As always….thanks for posting these lists. Good stuff.
